Are you interested in ancient civilizations? Would you like to be part of an excavation team in the picturesque Kerala state in South India to unearth a legendary port site - Muziris (Muciri Pattinam)- that might turn out to be as important as the Indus valley excavations? In short, do you see yourselves participating in the "making of history?"
The attached documents carry some information on the multidisciplinary excavation project. The site we are associated with has global significance: over thirty cultures spread over the three continents of the Old World (Asia, Africa and Europe) entered into maritime exchange 15 centuries before Vasco-da- Gama reached India. Muziris located in the Periyar delta was the nucleus of that net-work, known through written sources only till the excavations at Pattanam by the KCHR (2007-2015).
PAMA is now undertaking that Project after a gap of five years. Don’t you feel excited to be part of this trans-disciplinary project?
We write this to seek your collaboration and possibility of working in a multidisciplinary field research. See this 9 minutes video for a glimpse of the field work. We invite students across disciplinary boarders to join the team as Research Assistant interns and Volunteer interns

We invite internship applications from students of all disciplinary backgrounds interested in being part of this. We are also interested in multiple themes of enquiries; Apart from History students, we invite interns from varied disciplinary backgrounds, including but not limited to, Gender and Environmental science. What we look for are students who can contribute to the interpretation of ancient sites and its artefacts to engage on, for instance, a gendered reading or on the basis of nature-human relationships.
We would have loved to fund you, but at this stage, what we can offer you is academic support and a rare opportunity in being part of a multi-tasking team work. We may consider meeting your local hospitality if you have financial difficulties and your application is recommended for the same by your University who has to nominate you. PAMA - AMITY Excavation Announcement PAMA - AMITY Excavation Methodology
PAMA is a transdisciplinary research collective, registered as no-profit-educational Trust, to address the problems of shrinking academic vision, rigid knowledge boundaries, mechanistic career practices and fragmented scientific investigations. These limitations pre-empt transdisciplinary critical thinking and hamper the sublimity and balance of life. Multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary approaches, which can open up or expand the horizons of research endeavours and methodologies, represent the vision of PAMA.
